Why is this even here?
You can ask DeepSeek or Gemini anything, so why even use this?
We have selected a set of research papers related to the topics in this workshop, and then only allow the large language model (LLM) these sources. When you ask a question here, it only searches these papers and cites exactly where the answer came from. If the answer is not in the papers, it will just tell you that.
Generic LLMs don't work this way. They sound confident even when they're wrong, especially on cutting-edge science where they might not be sufficiently trained on. This is called hallucination, and it's a real problem when you're working with primary research. AI and LLMs are changing the way we work with knowledge, but how we assess what is good or bad information should not change. Science and knowledge can only improve if what we work with is verifiable and verified.
Tricks for asking questions
- Ask about specific mechanisms: "How does particle shape affect macrophage attachment?"
- Compare findings: "What's the role of CD47 versus phosphatidylserine in regulating phagocytosis?"
- Dig into details: "What components are required for LC3-associated phagocytosis but not canonical autophagy?"
- Click on the paper link in the response, it will show the page from the paper that corresponds to the point.
- If you want to read the full paper, scroll to the bottom to "Open full PDF in new tab".
- Too broad: "Tell me everything about macrophages" — narrow it down to a specific process or marker
- Not in the papers: If it's not in the literature, the KB will tell you — that's a feature, not a bug
